Menlo College sits in the heart of Silicon Valley, just outside of San Francisco. Over the years Menlo has fostered strong relationships with its corporate neighbors, who happen to be some of the most sought-after companies in the world for those entering the workforce. Each year they take advantage of these relationships to offer one of the strongest internship programs in the country. Business students at Menlo are required to secure and complete an internship position prior to their graduation.

Menlo College has received the 2019 Outstanding College Work Experience & Internship Program Award from the California Internship & Work Experience Association. This award recognizes innovative programs that provide unique opportunities to gain skills and on-the-job-training experiences.

Brook Oliver, President of the CIWEA said, “It’s impressive to see how your program strives to not just help your students find internships, but also provide trainings and seminars to help them prepare for their positions. Your program also encourages students to not just do their regular tasks, but to hold informational interviews and to reflect upon their internship and their performance. It’s truly amazing to see the impact of your program.”

The Internship program plays a significant role in students achieving success after graduation. Zippia recently named Menlo College #1 on their list of 10 Best Colleges for Jobs in California for 2019.

According to a 2012 study conducted by the Chronicle of High Education, “Internships came back as the most important thing that employers look for when evaluating a recent college graduate.” In addition, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) conducted research in 2012 that revealed “… a strong positive relationship between a student having an internship and an increased probability of receiving a full-time job offer while searching for a job prior to graduation.” Menlo College’s graduation requirements ensure that all students have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience during their time at the college.
