Menlo College Earns 10 NAIA Scholar-Teams

ATHERTON, Calif. – Announced this week by the NAIA were the 2018-19 Scholar-Teams for the previous academic year. For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution and the team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes. Reaching double digits once again were the Oaks, who land ten of their varsity teams on the scholar-team list.

Leading the way for the second consecutive year is the Oaks Women’s Golf team, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.251. They edge out the Men’s Soccer team, who finishes second on the Oaks with a grade point average of 3.223. Menlo Softball lands in third with a grade point average of 3.206. Both Oaks basketball teams made the list, in addition to both golf programs and both soccer programs. Men’s Cross Country and Women’s Volleyball are the other two sports that comprise the ten Scholar-Teams for the Oaks.

In addition to the impressive team success, the Oaks racked up 24 GSAC and CCC Scholar-Athletes, 23 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, 10 NWCA NAIA Women’s Scholar All-Americans, 6 Google Cloud Academic All-District members, 5 WCWA Academic All-Americans, and sport-specific scholar team awards for Men’s Basketball and Women’s Wrestling.
