Security & Safety

Menlo College is fortunate to be located in one of the safest neighborhoods in the U.S. The combination of our location and our attention to safety has earned us the #1 ranking as the safest campus in California! The College is committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for students, faculty and staff. The Office of Campus Security works continuously to keep the campus community in the most secure and protected environment possible. Historically, the College has had a relatively low number of serious campus criminal incidents.

Campus Security Services

Uniformed security officers conduct regular rounds of the campus 24/7 during the year. Their responsibilities include patrolling all grounds and buildings, enforcing parking and traffic rules, investigating suspicious activities, and responding to emergencies. They are also responsible for reviewing surveillance cameras when situations arise. Campus security officers enforce local laws as well as campus policies. Campus security officers work cooperatively with the Atherton Police Department in responding to problem situations on campus. The Atherton Police Department notifies campus security whenever they are called to campus. The college also maintains a professional liaison with Atherton Disaster and Preparedness Team (ADAPT), Menlo Park Fire Department, San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services, and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) which offers hands-on exercises and activities to learn disaster skills and emergency assistance.
