MENLO BEATS BETHANY 6-0 Printer-Friendly Format Email This ArticleFreshman Bora Akkaya recorded the First Hat Trick of His Career ATHERTON, Calif. -10/15/04- Freshman Bora Akkaya scored three goals and sophomore Aidan O’Flynn added a goal and an assist as the Menlo Oaks (6-10, 4-1 CP) shut out Bethany (0-10, 0-5 CP) 6-0 Saturday afternoon in Atherton. Sophomore goaltender Ramiro Rios notched three saves in route to the Oaks third win in a row. Junior Michael Sharabi got the Oaks on the board in the 9th minute taking a pass on the run from junior Armando San Vincente and took it all the way, beating Bethany Goalkeeper Chris Norman. In the 43rd minute O’Flynn would score from 20 yards out unassisted to cap the first half scoring for the Oaks. Akkaya scored the first of his three goals in the 72nd minute, putting in a rebound of a shot from O’Flynn. Akkaya would score two more goals just two minutes apart. The first came off a pass from junior Denis Sztokfisz in the 86th minute. In the 89th minute, he scored on beautiful corner kick pass from Sztokfisz, beating Norman on a header to the left corner. San Vincente would add a goal on a penalty shot in the 84th minute to complete the scoring. Norman picked up eight saves for the Bruins. Next up for the Oaks, a battle with Holy Names Monday afternoon in Oakland. That game tips off at 3:00 PM. GAME NOTES: Akkaya’s three goals give him four on the season… It was the first hat trick in Akkaya’s career… Sharabi’s goal was his team-leading sixth on the season… Rios picked up his second shut out of the season.
