Alyssa Rodeheaver-Nojima graduated in May of 2014 with a B.A. in Psychology. While at Menlo College, Alyssa was the Treasurer and Vice President of the Hawaii Club, President of the Sewing Club, an Orientation Leader, and a participant in the Leadershape program. She worked in the Athletic Department as an Athletic Trainer’s Assistant and in the Academic Success Center as an Advising Assistant. Alyssa’s favorite thing about Menlo was the friends she made during her time here who have now become her family. She was also grateful for the friendly atmosphere, the help from faculty, and the connections she made that helped her grow. After graduation, Alyssa returned home to Hawaii and won a small scholarship to Argosy University in a preliminary pageant for Miss Hawaii. She shared with us some important statistics stressing the importance of a safe and clean online social media presence.

Hanna Malak graduated from Menlo College with a Business Management degree in 2012. He was a four year member of the Men’s Wrestling Team and also a four year member of the Student Government Association (SGA), three of which he was the SGA President. Hanna also created the Red Cross Club at Menlo and ran numerous blood drives on campus. For the 2010-2011 school year he was selected for the NAIA American Red Cross Leadership Program. Hanna held an internship as the Administrative Coordinator for the Town of Atherton and was a member of the Atherton Disaster and Preparedness Team. After he graduated, Hanna went to Notre Dame De Namur University to get his Masters in Business Administration while working full-time for the American Red Cross as an Account Manager. Dr. Marcela García-Castañon is Assistant Professor of Political Science at San Francisco State University. Her research agenda analyzes notions of membership and citizenship development within immigrant communities and their connection to political and civic engagement.
